Exam Grades

Hi all,

Here are your exam grades again. THESE ARE NOT your grades for the quarter (you will get them on your report cards over the summer). If your ID number has a blank space next to it, it means one of two things. You might have finished the test at a time not your class block - OR - you might have not taken the test for some bizarre reason. Anyway, most of you did really well. Ciao for now.

Have one tremendous summer, everyone. You deserve it. Make sure you take some time to relax before high school - which you are going to ace!

This summer I'm moving, starting a new job, and HAVING A BABY (well, my wife's having the baby). If you need something to do with your lives, you can stay up to date with all this by going to togetherthen.blogspot.com - it's like a reality show about someone you know.

So, that's a rap. See you tomorrow for promotion, look here for your UTC exam grades.

Gallery Walk

The most important part of expository writing is making choices. For this assessment, you have spent class time brainstorming possible choices you could make about your essay. By no means must you select your quotes and essay elements from this gallery walk. Your classmates' thoughts are here only as a resource for you.

The Exam Question

Below is an exact copy of the exam question for your exam period. You may discuss this question with your classmates and develop your thinking on your own time. You may review materials posted here from your class or others, but you may not write an essay to be emailed to yourself here. You may mark your books with post its or bookmarks, but you may not make copious notes for use in class. I reserve the right to ask you not to use these materials. And now - without further ado - the question.

Uncle Tom’s Cabin Assessment/Humanities English 8 Final

Uncle Tom’s Cabin is widely hailed as one of the most persuasive pieces of 19th century abolitionist writing. Based upon what you have read, to what degree does Stowe make use of ethos, pathos, and logos to persuade her audience? Is Uncle Tom’s Cabin a work of honest persuasion, a work of propaganda, or neither?

Both periods were abreviated today because of science testing. Each period lasted a little less than an hour. We created consensograms about how far along students rated themselves on the Final Conference process. Overall, Mrs. Martin and I are pleased with the progress groups are making.
